
79th Pennsylvania Monument - Chickamauga Georgia
This monument marks the location of the 79th Pennsylvania Veteran Volunteer Infantry on the second day of the battle. They held this position against repeated confederate attack on the second day of fighting helping General George Thomas earn the name "The Rock of Chickamauga." They were finally ordered to withdraw, leaving the field and the victory to the Confederate army.
